Le projet d’aménagement de Tamansourt s’inscrit dans la stratégie de développement du Grand Marrakech. Au-delà de la conception d’une ville nouvelle, l’enjeu est de développer un territoire cohérent, dont l’identité ne se limite pas à la dépendance à la grande ville. Si sa relation affirmée avec Marrakech est évidente, nous envisageons cet aménagement comme l’opportunité de développer un nouveau centre d’activité tertiaire, limita nt la mobilité et renforçant l’attractivité de Tamansourt. La composition urbaine s’articule autour d’îlots traversés dont la profondeur génère de l’espace public privilégié, tout en y intégrant une diversité de programmes. Cet aménagement d’îlots mixtes élabore un jeu de densité et de morphologie, tout en offrant d’amples espaces déambulatoires et une porosité visuelle à l’échelle de la ville. Les grands axes préexistants bénéficieront d’un traitement paysager qui ralentira la circulation pour que Tamansourt ne soit plus qu’une cité traversée.

Thoroughly lacking any sense of character, this exurb of Marrakech is endeavoring to transform itself from a drear y bedroom suburb into a vital town with a strong sense of identity. Through the development of a series of interconnecting public spaces of different scales, this project creates a central public spine that fosters a sense of community for the town’s inhabitants. At the level of the urban block, the project proposes to op en the heart of traditionally closed city blocks in order to transform these previously inaccessible spaces into active destinations hosting public amenities and community activities. Opening the interior of the city blocks creates a porosity that prioritizes pedestrian and bicycle circulation. All of these open cores open onto a large ‘rambla’ that traverses the city center and connects to the large park at the city’s edge. At the city center, a circle of huge sculptural parasols serves as urban landmarks as well as creating a shaded plaza to host weekly farmers’ markets for the region.
